Prices of Reverse Clinical Engineering® Test Packages
Our test procedure comes in three alternative packages, and the selection is always discussed with you and your oncologist. Our team will be happy to advise you on which package is best suited for you and support you with all questions you may have about selecting a package or financing.
If you agree to make your tumor tissue available for research purposes after the RCE is finished, we offer a discount of € 2,000. By doing so, you will support our cancer research and contribute to a better knowledge on how to combat cancer. This discount is already included in the prices below.

Individual consultation
ASC Oncology is at your side throughout the process to assist you with any information you may need. We support you in making informed decisions and can also provide scientific advice to your treating physicians if needed.
Shipping sample tubes and tumor tissue
ASC Oncology will provide the materials necessary to ship the tumor tissue sample and and takes care of all logistics related to the sample shipment.
Creating a PD3D® cell cultures from tumor tissue
We use a freshly taken sample from your tumor to create a 3D cell culture. This is done by multiplying the tumor cells in a Petri dish.
Testing up to 4 cancer drugs; optionally up to 2 combination therapies
We consult with your oncologist to test the drugs that are appropriate in your individual case and for your cancer. Fixed combination therapies (e.g. FOLFOX) are considered one drug, all others are counted as several.
A personal report for you and your doctor
After successful testing of the agreed substances, we evaluate the data with help of modern software. We then prepare a report for your doctor and make specific suggestions for treatment – based on your individual tumor data.

Creating an additional PD3D® cell culture from another tissue sample of your tumor
We create a separate 3D cell culture from a freshly taken sample of a different region of your tumor. The analysis of several tumor regions is particularly useful for very large or advanced tumors, as these sometimes contain different cell types that may react differently to a drug.

Cryopreservation of the cells for 12 months
In case you want to test other drugs at a later stage, we freeze some of your tumor models in liquid nitrogen at -200 °C. This allows us to use them again if, for example, new drugs are approved for the treatment of your tumor.

Sequencing
On request, we also offer sequencing, in which the genetic material of the tumor is examined for alterations. Those genetic alterations, also called mutations, may help explain how the tumor has developed and can serve as targets for targeted cancer therapies.

Oncoproteomics Panel
The oncoproteomic panel goes one step further than sequencing. It looks at how the cancer cells are altered at the functional level. In this way, we can draw even better clues on why a certain drug works and another does not.

If – for whatever reason – after receipt of the sample box the RCE test procedure is not used after all, we will only charge the costs incurred for material and transport up to that point of € 400 for delivery to non-EU countries and € 150 for delivery within EU countries.
The RCE test procedure is a test on living cells under artificial conditions. There is a possibility that the tumor cells do not grow; in such cases the test cannot be performed. You will then be contacted by ASC Oncology and will only be required to pay the prorated cost.
Cost coverage of Reverse Clinical Engineering®
In Germany, the RCE test procedure is currently classified as an individual health service (called IGeL). As such, the costs incurred are mostly covered by private health insurers. In the case of statutory health insurers, decisions on cost coverage are made on a case-by-case basis. We are happy to share with you our insights with German health insurance companies to see how our experience might benefit you in your country.
Which package is the right one for me?
Our test packages differ in the amount of drugs to be tested. Deciding which test package is right for you depends on your individual situation. The most comprehensive is not always the most suitable for you.
Since there is no point in testing drugs that your oncologist cannot prescribe for you, we select the drugs in close cooperation with your oncologist.
